As the lyrics of “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride goes, ‘cancer don’t discriminate.’ It doesn’t pick an age, profession, or gender – it just lands to whoever it picked at any given moment.
Mrs. Adriana Lopez, fourth grade teacher in PS22 in Graniteville, New York was not an exemption. She began the fight of her life against breast cancer in 2015.
At the time of her diagnosis, Mrs. Lopez was a new teacher at PS22 and instantly connected with everyone. Mrs. Lopez shared her warmth, creativity and joyful smile with all she came across.
Battling cancer will never be easy. But praise God because Mrs. Lopez have loving friends and students who were there in tough times of her life and people who went through it with her.
In the video, you will see that the students were singing from their soul! The hand movements, facial expressions and swaying back/forth. They obviously love this teacher because they sang this song with everything in them.
Mr. B, choral director for PS 22, shared that after dozens of treatments, with the comfort and support of family and friends by her side, Mrs. Lopez is currently “cancer free!”
